About the Role:
Discovery Community College is committed to academic excellence and fostering a dynamic learning environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate on-site Health Care Assistant (HCA) Instructor to support and guide students and helping prepare them for successful entry into the In person Labs(Personal care and Assistance).

This position is primarily for an online theory course, which is to  be delivered from  our campus locations in Surrey, BC. The role plays a key part in ensuring students receive a comprehensive, hands-on educational experience that meets both regulatory standards and industry expectations. 

This part-time evening weekend role with schedule (Tuesday to Thursday from 5:30pm to 9:30pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 5:00pm) and has the potential to lead to future advancements within the college. 

Rate Range: $33 to $35/hour
Course Duration: October 28th, 2025, to February 21st, 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate student learning in an online classroom through MS Teams, providing guidance and support throughout.
  •  Execute lesson plans using preset curriculum that aligns with PTIRU compliance (extensive in-house curriculum orientation and training provided).
  •  Ensure compliance with program accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and college policies.
  •   Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  •   Maintain a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  •   Stay current with best practices and developments in nursing education.
Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of full-time nursing experience – required.
    • 2800 hours of nursing experience
    • nursing experience must include working with older adults with complex health needs
    • Nursing experience must include experience or orientation in home support and multi-level care
  • Ability to teach adult learners (mentoring / instructing)
    • Provincial Instructors Diploma and previous experience or
    • Aptitude and willingness to learn and obtain an Instructor Diploma (with our help)
